Award-winning author & test pilot Dan Daetz. Clean & compelling sci-fi.

Blasting off to the Seven Cs!

I’m going to kick off this clean sci-fi blog with a confession: alliteration is one of my weaknesses.

Maybe I’ve heard too many sermons with a catchy outline: Pause—Pray—Plan…

But I like my ZZZs, M&Ms and even AAA batteries.

Then there are my initials: DDD.

So I was cursed with alliteration at birth. (No judgment here, Mom & Dad…)

Now that I’ve come clean with you, here are my Seven-C guidelines you can count on for my posts:

  1. Clean: I write clean sci-fi. It has grit without the gutter. Likewise, my blog content won’t make you blush (but hopefully think, smile, and engage).
  2. Concise: You have a busy life. And, since editing out fluff is next to godliness (I chopped my first novel manuscript by almost 20 percent), I’ll trim any fat from my posts to keep the meat.
  3. Consistent: I will post at least monthly, targeting First Fridays (a hallowed day in the jet pilot social calendar…ask me about jalapeño popcorn)
  4. Creative: Posts won’t be something dull that ChatGPT could write from a rehash of the internet (no, my reading friends, AI won’t write my posts—although Dall-E helped with a cover for the free short story available here)
  5. Change it up: We all like a buffet, right? So you can expect different angles: writing tips, what I’m writing, what I’m reading, fun little polls, etc.
  6. Collaborative: Life is a team sport. I’ll invite others to contribute their wisdom, from authors to astronauts to aliens (well, maybe not that extraterrestrial category…but alliteration took over my mind. Where’s my tinfoil hat?)
  7. Comments: Your comments are immensely valuable. I will read and react and respond to them (oops, I did it again…thanks in advance for your grace).

OK, there you go!

We’ve blasted off!

Thanks for joining the journey!

Dan
